Free-agent forward Matt Barnes says he is headed for Toronto.
Barnes wrote on his Twitter page Monday that he has decided to play for the Raptors next season. He also thanked fans in Orlando, Fla., where he played last season.
"Nxt season I will b playing for the Toronto Raptors. I wanted to thank the fans in orl you guys were amazing the way u guys excepted," Barnes tweeted.
ESPN.com, citing unnamed sources, reported that Barnes has agreed to a two-year deal with Toronto worth almost $10 million US.
The contract is expected to be finalized on Tuesday.
According to the sources, Orlando and Toronto must also complete a sign-and-trade because the Raptors spent most of their $5.8-million mid-level expectation to lock up Linas Kleiza.
Barnes started 58 games for the Magic, helping them reach the Eastern Conference finals.
The well-travelled swingman will be joining his eighth NBA team. He has averaged 7.3 points, with a career high of 10.2 for Phoenix during the 2008-09 season.
