A broken left hand will keep Brandon Inge out of the Detroit Tigers lineup for at least one month.

Texas Rangers starter Scott Feldman hit the third baseman with a pitch during Monday night's 8-6 loss.

Inge stayed in the game after being examined by Detroit's training staff, but was replaced in the field by Don Kelly for the top of the fifth.

The veteran infielder was subsequently placed on the 15-day disabled list after x-rays showed a non-displaced fracture of his fifth metacarpal bone.

Inge, 33, has posted a .263 batting average in 312 at-bats this season with six home runs and 40 runs batted in.

Detroit recalled right-handed pitcher Casey Fien from AAA Toledo.

He is 1-1 with a 2.33 earned-run average and four saves in 31 appearances with the Mud Hens.

Second baseman Carlos Guillen probably will shift to third in Inge's absence while rookie Scott Sizemore could be summoned from Toledo to man second.
