Major League Baseball players, fans and friends of the late Cory Lidle will gather for a poker tournament in the pitcher's name Sunday at 1 p.m. at Hollywood Park Casino.
The proceeds of the Cory Lidle Poker Tournament will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Registration starts at 11 a.m.
The public is invited to join Giants pitcher Barry Zito and the Dodgers' Mike Lieberthal and Randy Wolf, all of whom were friends of Lidle, who died in an airplane crash last October in New York.
The buy-in is $300 at the door, or $250 by contacting Lidle family friend Dave Bletcher prior to Sunday's registration at (626) 848-2679.
Alex Rodriguez and Jason Giambi are a couple of the major leaguers who donated signed items for an auction.
"Its the first of what we hope to make an annual event," Bletcher said. "It's important to continue something so dear to Cory's heart."
Lidle's widow Melanie will be on hand.
"I am overwhelmed by all the players and people who have given of themselves to keep Cory's dream alive," she said.
