With spectacular results at this year's Asian Poker Classic in Goa, India, organizers have announced the tournament's return in March 2008, in the hope of drawing more money, and many more pros to the table.

As the richest poker tournament ever to be held in India, with over 140 players vying for a guaranteed $1 million in winnings, the results were phenomenal. The Asian Poker Classic attracted players from all countries around the world, as well as many celebrities poker pros including Surinder Sunar, Willie Tan, Mel Judah, Roy "the boy" Brindley, and Lee Nelson.

Many of the winners admitted to having learnt and practiced poker on the internet, starting with free money games and progressing to real money wagering. In fact, the event was relying on the online gambling community to be its main audience. The first place finish winner, Carl Hostrup from Denmark, took home $320,000 in winnings, claiming it was thanks to his acquired poker strategy.

The stunning Indian Coast setting set the stage for some heated competition, which saw many winners and a heap of talent. Combined with the luxury of the Intercontinental resort, it was undoubtedly a memorable event. All participants are thrilled to hear that the event's return has been confirmed. According to Imran Hassan, Director of Operations for the Asian Poker Classic, "we are extremely excited about coming back in 2008. The inaugural APC was a huge success so of course the planning started right after to produce a bigger, better and even more luxurious poker tournament in India. Asian Poker Classic is no doubt poised to be one of the biggest tournaments in the region".

A bigger and better field than ever is expected in next year's tournament; the one of a kind atmosphere and increasing pot prize will no doubt attract a variety of top pros, keen amateurs, and many "new-bees" who have qualified online to take the challenge. As Hassan has put it, "the Asian Poker Classic is no doubt poised to be one of the biggest tournaments in the region"!
