Singapore's first casino opened its doors to the public on
the Chinese New Year, and the verdict from the public is very clear - they love
it.
Around 128,000 people flocked to the Resorts World Sentosa
casino before it had even been open a week, and management were expecting those
numbers to rise as the holidays draw to a close.
"These queue lines are still here," the casino's assistant
director for communications Robin Goh was quoted as saying by local media.
"This being the first non-Chinese New Year weekend, we are expecting large
queues to come in as well."
Built by Malaysia's Genting Group and including a Universal
Studios theme park, hotels and convention facilities, Resorts World Sentosa is
the first of two casinos set to operate in Singapore this year.
The Marina Bay Sands is due to begin operating in April.
