Red hot Chile got three well deserved points in their World Cup opener yesterday whilst South Africa faced Uruguay in a game that was full of intensity. The vuvuzelas were silenced after a first half screamer fromDiego Forlan put Uruguay ahead. In the 76th minute,Itumeleng Khune, the South African goalie, was sent off, leaving Uruguay to capitalize on this with two goals in the final 15 minutes, all but dashing the host's World Cup dreams.

However, the headline-maker and biggestupset of the tournament so far, was Switzerland's shock victory over bookies' favorite, Spain. In a 1-0 spectacular, hero of the hour, Gelson Fernandes, left the Spanish side blushing and no doubt caused a flurry of Tweets. The Spaniards, who had dominated possession yet failed to score, responded with a thrust forward and a barrage of goal attempts, all of which evaded the net.

Will the Pundits' Top Scorer Find Form?

The World Cup is now truly underway with every team having played at least once and the action hotting up by the day. Today see's Maradona's Argentina facing South Korea. With both teams already having three points in the bag and likely to make the top two in their group, they will be tussling over the status of first place. Messi, the bookmakers' 'top goal scorer', will be keen to open up his score sheet.

Other action today sees Greece v Nigeria both fighting for their survival in Group B as well as France v Mexico, both of whom will be under pressure to win after first game draws.
